[NEWS] Actress Choi Sooyoung Cast in Hollywood Film ‘Ballerina’

Actress Choi Sooyoung has been cast in Ballerina, a spin-off of the global hit film John Wick.

On the 26th, her agency, Saram Entertainment, announced, “Choi Sooyoung will appear in Ballerina, a spin-off of the John Wick franchise.”

Ballerina is an action thriller set during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. It follows the story of Eve Macaro (played by Ana de Armas), who begins training as a traditional assassin within the Ruska Roma organization. Expanding the John Wick universe, Ballerina has garnered considerable attention from movie fans around the world.

Character posters featuring all 12 main cast members — including Choi Sooyoung, Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, Norman Reedus, Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Robert Mazur, and David Castañeda — were recently unveiled. Choi Sooyoung will portray Katla Park, the daughter of Ilsung, a Ruska Roma collaborator. Katla, a ballerina and assassin, becomes the first mission Eve Macaro is tasked with protecting, heightening anticipation for Choi Sooyoung’s on-screen chemistry with Ana de Armas.

Choi Sooyoung has built a strong acting career through dramas such as Not Others, If You Wish Upon Me, and Run On, as well as films like New Year Blues and Miss & Mrs. Cops, and the stage play Wife. Additionally, she has pursued her music career, releasing a solo single album in Japan last year. As a multi-talented entertainer, expectations are high for the new sides she will showcase in her Hollywood debut with Ballerina.

Meanwhile, Choi Sooyoung will also star as the lead character Han Geumjoo in the upcoming tvN Monday-Tuesday drama Second Shot at Love, premiering on May 12. Ballerina is scheduled for release on June 6 (U.S. release date).
